Welcome to the Redwood Heights PTA!
Our Redwood Heights Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was established in 1935 to positively impact the lives of all children and families through community engagement at RHS.
Our Programming
The RHS PTA provides full or partial funding to the programming that makes our children’s experience at RHS so special, including:
Educational Enrichment Programs
- Art (instructor salary support & supplies)
- Library (supplies)
- Garden Class (instructor salary support & supplies)
- Music (instructor salary support)
- PE (instructor salary support)
- NatureBridge (our annual 4th grade 3-day overnight fieldtrip)
- Techbridge (our 5th grade girls’ STEM program)
- Science Alliance (our schoolwide science activity day)
Social, Emotional, & Academic Support
- Group Specialists who provide small group academic support (instructor salary)
- SEL interns who provide Social Emotional Learning support (instructor salary)
School & Safety Programs
- Teacher discretionary funds for classroom supplies
- Emergency Preparedness supplies for our community
- School beautification funding
Community Building
- Community events like our annual Move-A-Thon and Auction
- Staff appreciation throughout the year
- Funding support for our family Affinity Groups, including Families of African Descent Students, AAPI Affinity Group, RHS Inclusion Affinity Group, Latino Affinity Group, LGBTQ+ Community Group, and others
- 5th grade promotion ceremony funding

Our Fundraisers
We hold three fundraising events each year to support our program needs:
Fall Fundraiser: Reach New Heights!
This is our direct-ask campaign where folks donate to unlock schoolwide prizes for our students and teachers.
Winter Fundraiser: RHS Auction
Student raffle ticket sales, a silent auction, a live auction, and teacher- and family-hosted parties make this event have a little something for everyone!
Spring Fundraiser: RHS Move-a-thon
This is a one-day event, open to everyone, where donors can sponsor our kids for each lap they complete around our neighborhood movement route. It’s a fabulous way to get some exercise, win some prizes, and raise some money for our school.
Year-round: Dine Out Nights
Eat out with the family on specially designated nights where a local restaurant agrees to donate a portion of their profits to RHS.
Year-round: School swag and spirit gear
RHS gear, including t-shirts and sweatshirts, are often available for sale at school events, and you can email pta@redwoodheightspta.org for more information.
Get Involved
There are so many ways to get involved!
- Join the PTA on Totem, our membership platform
- Join our PTA Members channel in Konstella, our family communication platform
- Come to our PTA meetings (usually the third Thursday of most months)
- Join a Committee and help shape the role PTA plays at RHS
- Connect through family affinity groups
- Come to a community event like our annual Black Excellence Celebration
- Become a room parent to keep families in your class informed and connected
- Become a cleared volunteer through the Oakland Ed Fund to help in our Library, Garden, or Art classes or chaperone a field trip
